Conservatives tend to acquiesce (often without challenge) to authority that espouses views similar to their own. This is how Reagan, a preznit who INCREASED military spending dramatically, could get elected with "fiscal conservative" rhetoric. They also are some of the first to aggress in the name of this authority. This is why many of them believe Iraq is about revenge - "to prevent another 9/11" - and torture is justified. They are also concerned very much with being "normal", insisting that others conform. This is why they move to the suburbs.
